Rheumatoid Arthritis Screen

Anti-CCP (anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody) is an early indicator of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Anti-CCP antibodies have been detected up to 10 years before the first RA symptoms were noted. RA is a common, chronic autoimmune disease affecting 1-2% of the world-wide population. It is characterised by inflammation of the joints and affects females more frequently than males. Unless treated early RA can lead to joint deformities and disability. Growing evidence suggests that early treatment of RA leads to earlier disease control and less joint damage
